WHS & Safety

Protect your workers, protect your residents.

Aged care workplaces present unique WHS risks — manual handling injuries, chemical exposure, aggressive behaviour, and infection risks. Statura Care’s WHS module provides a complete workplace safety management system from incident reporting through hazard identification, inspections, and emergency preparedness.

The Challenge

WHS incidents, hazard reports, and inspection records scattered across paper forms and email make it impossible to identify systemic risks before someone gets hurt. A structured system turns reactive incident management into proactive risk prevention.

Key Capabilities

What the WHS & Safety module does.

01

WHS Incident Reporting

Structured incident reporting separate from clinical SIRS incidents. Track injuries, near misses, and hazardous events with root cause analysis and corrective actions.

02

Hazard Register

Identify and record workplace hazards with risk ratings using a 5×5 matrix (likelihood × consequence). Track control measures and residual risk after treatment.

03

Workplace Inspections

Schedule and conduct workplace inspections with checklist templates. Track findings, corrective actions, and completion. Monitor inspection compliance rates.

04

Chemical Register

Register all hazardous chemicals with Safety Data Sheets (SDS), storage requirements, PPE requirements, and first aid information. Track SDS currency and chemical usage.

05

Equipment Register

Track equipment testing and maintenance schedules — hoists, wheelchairs, fire equipment, emergency lighting. Overdue testing generates alerts.

06

Emergency Preparedness

Manage emergency plans, evacuation procedures, and fire drill schedules. Track drill participation, outcomes, and improvement actions.

Regulatory Requirements

What the law requires.

The Aged Care Act 2024 (WHS Act) sets specific obligations that this module helps you meet systematically.

WHS Duties

Providers have a duty under WHS legislation to provide a safe workplace for workers and residents.

Incident Notification

Notifiable WHS incidents (death, serious injury, dangerous incidents) must be reported to the WHS regulator.

Hazard Management

Hazards must be identified, assessed, and controlled using the hierarchy of controls.

Emergency Planning

Providers must have current emergency management plans with regular testing.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does the WHS module differ from SIRS?

WHS covers workplace safety for workers (injuries, near misses, hazardous events) under WHS legislation. SIRS covers serious incidents affecting care recipients under the Aged Care Act. Some incidents may be reportable under both — the cross-reference feature prevents duplicate reporting while ensuring both obligations are met.

What does the hazard register track?

The hazard register records identified workplace hazards with risk ratings using a 5x5 matrix (likelihood x consequence). For each hazard, you document control measures, residual risk after treatment, and review schedules. This provides evidence of proactive risk management.

Can we manage chemical Safety Data Sheets (SDS)?

Yes. The chemical register tracks all hazardous chemicals with SDS documents, storage requirements, PPE requirements, and first aid information. SDS currency is monitored so you always have current safety information accessible.
