Rostering & Scheduling

Build compliant rosters, control costs.

Rostering for aged care is uniquely complex — you need 24/7 RN coverage, SCHADS Award compliance, care minutes alignment, and cost control, all while managing leave and last-minute changes. Statura Care’s Rostering module brings it all together with built-in compliance validation.

The Challenge

Rostering aged care workers involves balancing regulatory requirements (24/7 RN, care minutes targets), industrial obligations (SCHADS Award rates, overtime limits), and operational realities (leave, sick calls, shift swaps). Doing this in spreadsheets is slow, error-prone, and expensive.

Key Capabilities

What the Rostering & Scheduling module does.

01

Roster Management

Build weekly and fortnightly rosters with drag-and-drop shift assignment. Template rosters for recurring patterns. View by facility, wing, or individual worker.

02

Shift Scheduling

Define shift types with start/end times, break requirements, and minimum staffing levels. Track shift fill rates and unfilled shifts with escalating alerts.

03

RN Coverage Validation

Real-time validation that every 24-hour period has at least one RN rostered. Coverage gaps are highlighted before the roster is published.

04

SCHADS Award Compliance

Built-in SCHADS Award pay calculation across 15 levels (L1.1—–L8.1). Penalty rates for evening, night, weekend, and public holiday shifts calculated per 15-minute segment.

05

Leave & Shift Swaps

Leave request workflow with balance tracking and approval management. Shift swap requests between workers with manager approval and compliance validation.

06

Cost Analysis

Real-time roster cost projections with base rate, penalties, overtime, and allowances. Compare actual vs budgeted labour costs by period.

Regulatory Requirements

What the law requires.

The Aged Care Act 2024 (Standard 2) sets specific obligations that this module helps you meet systematically.

24/7 RN Coverage

Rosters must ensure at least one RN is on-site at all times — no exceptions.

Care Minutes Alignment

Rostered hours must deliver sufficient care minutes to meet the 215/44 targets.

SCHADS Compliance

Rostering must comply with the SCHADS Award including maximum hours, minimum engagement, and penalty rates.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does SCHADS Award compliance checking work?

The module has built-in SCHADS Award pay calculation across 15 levels (L1.1 to L8.1). Penalty rates for evening, night, weekend, and public holiday shifts are calculated per 15-minute segment, so shifts spanning multiple penalty bands are costed accurately.

Does the roster validate 24/7 RN coverage before publishing?

Yes. The system checks every 24-hour period in the roster for at least one RN. Coverage gaps are highlighted before the roster is published so you can fill them proactively rather than discovering gaps when it is too late.

Can workers request shift swaps?

Yes. Workers can submit shift swap requests through the system. The swap goes through manager approval with automatic compliance validation — ensuring the swap does not create a screening gap, qualification mismatch, or RN coverage breach.
